Scaleworms Course with Dr Ruth Barnich

Dr. Ruth Barnich, of the Senckenberg Natural History Museum, Frankfurt, will be running a workshop on scaleworm identification. This course will enable participants to gain experience and develop confidence in the identification of species belonging to this group. The course will involve lectures on scaleworms covering body parts, terminology and the use of a dichotomous key for the group. The main focus of this three day course will be microscope work, allowing students to work through specimens at their own speed. Participants will carry out identification with assistance from Dr. Ruth Barnich and one of MESL’s senior taxonomists. Specimens from the majority of northern European genera will be available.
