Robert Goodchild, Marine Policy Assistant at Marine Ecological Surveys Limited (part of Gardline Group of Companie), recently graduated with a MSc in Environmental Consultancy from the University of the West of England. Previously undertaking a three month work placement with MESL working on a full spectrum of marine projects, assisting senior consultants in the production of technical reports and environmental appraisals for both private and public sector clients, whilst drawing upon skills and knowledge accuried throughout his academic life.
KEY EXPERIENCE
- Assisting in the in-depth analysis of the confidence assessment methods employed by the national scale habitat maps UKSEAMap 2010 and MESH, requiring extensive analysis of large datasets using both GIS and Spreadsheet manipulations.
- Use of GIS tools to produce technical maps for a range of marine projects including tidal diamonds, submarine cable routes, wind farm and aggregate dredge sites.
- Working on all aspects of marine projects from initial inception through to final hand-in.
- Completing MSc Thesis on the Cumulative Impact Assessment of Offshore Wind in the Thames Estuary, utilising a number of publicly available data sources.
- Critical analysis of technical reports when undertaking desk-based research.
- Attending a 2 day MBA accredited taxonomic course on the identification of Amphipods to species level.
