Lucy Georgiou, Marine Ecologist at Marine Ecological Surveys Limited (part of Gardline), has over 2 years experience in the fields of environmental field work, benthic taxonomy and project management. Lucy has extensive field work experience having practice in the use of day grabs, Hamon grabs and trawls. Lucy was a field environmentalist for the duration of the East Anglia Offshore Windfarm project, which took four months to complete and was lead shift supervisor for part of this survey. Lucy has also been involved in the research and writing of commercial reports and research reports such as a report commissioned by Natural England on the viability of Marine Protected Areas.

Currently Lucy is project managing the East Anglia Offshore Windfarm Cable Route and Thanet Offshore Windfarm Post-Construction projects.

 

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Project Manager for the East Anglia Offshore Windfarm Cable Route and Post-construction Thanet Offshore Winfarm projects
  • Extensive field work experience including trawling, grab sampling and underwater camera work
  • Trained in epibenthic field work and species identification
  • Trained in the analyses of seabed imagery especially with regard to the presence of Annex I habitats such as Sabellaria reefs
  • Lucy spent four months onboard the survey vessel as a field environmentalist collecting samples and video analysis for the East Anglia Offshore Windfarm project
  • Laboratory experience in processing samples and identifying species in all taxonomic groups using light microscopy (Benthic Taxonomist)
  • Management of laboratory projects including the administration of data for statistical analysis
  • Ornithology research and writing for the Humber Regional Environmental Characterisation report
  • Research on the viability of Marine Protected Areas, a report commissioned by Natural England which is currently influencing future government policy on the development of marine protected areas
  • Commercial report writing for aggregate and renewable energy clients and technical reports including terms of reference for benthic and intertidal characterisation surveys
