Aimee Colcombe, Senior benthic taxonomist at Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd (parts of Gardline), has over 5 years experience of identification of marine benthic fauna.
KEY EXPERIENCE
- Involved in the separation, identification, enumeration from intertidal and subtidal projects around the UK. As a senior taxonomist also checking identification of other members of staff.
- Aimee has worked on projects from around the UK in oil and gas fields, estuaries, aggregate licence areas and renewable energy developments.
- Project management experience of samples passing through the lab. From checking samples in to our database through the sieving sorting and identification stage, to checking the reference collection for the project and finally checking the data matrix.
- Involved in renovating MES reference collection by checking identification of current specimens and expanding the filing system to include all taxa.
- Aimee attended the expert NMBAQC training courses in 2010 and 2008. These courses focused on groups such as Cumaceans, Scaleworms, Lumbrineridae, Spionidae, Hesionidae, Nephtyidae and Terebellamorpha. Also attended the NMBAQC beginners taxonomic training course in 2007.
- Coordinated external Phyllodocid taxonomic training course and also assisted at the MES Summer School 2011.
- Involved in commercial report writing including use of Primer and MapInfo.
