Josh Hatton, Senior benthic taxonomist at Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd (parts of Gardline), has over 2 years experience of identification of marine benthic and epibenthic fauna.
KEY EXPERIENCE
- Sample collection, separation, identification and enumeration of fauna from intertidal and subtidal projects around the UK
- Sample processing for the ongoing monitoring of commercial cockle (Cerstoderma edule) beds
- Survey experience in benthic grabbing, anchor dredging, epibenthic otter trawling and beam trawling
- Carried out 12 epibenthic trawling surveys requiring onboard fish and invertebrate identification to species level
- Lead surveyor of otter trawl sampling of the Thames Estuary as part of an ongoing assessment of fish and Epibenthos carried out for the London Gateway development (DP World)
- Attended the NMBAQC benthic invertebrate training course 2010 and fish identification training course 2011
- Participated in NMBAQC invertebrate ring tests
- Basic training in GIS
- Project management of data entry, checking and analysis of an ongoing otter trawl survey of the Thames Estuary
