Consultant Experience
Daniel has extensive experience of working in the field of ecology. Following the completion of his Masters Degree Daniel found work with the Countryside Council for Wales, the Welsh national governmental body charged with conserving Welsh wildlife and administering the UK and European wildlife regulation.

Daniel began as an Assistant Reserve Manager across a suite of National Nature Reserves across the Swansea and Gower areas of South Wales. Whilst undertaking this role Daniel gained a wealth of experience in many different fields including people and project management, species surveys, species identification, administration, budget management and UK and European environmental legislation.

An interest in environmental policy and legislation led Daniel to successfully apply for the post of Conservation Officer with CCW. This post demanded a wealth of skills and helped Daniel to develop an excellent understanding of Government regulatory bodies and planning law and public consultation processes. The role also required excellent strong ecological knowledge, communication skills, GIS skills, the ability to co-ordinate an intense and demanding work load and to liaise successfully with other national government bodies such as Cefas and the Environment Agency as well as other non-governmental partners and the general public

Since joining MESL Daniel has been involved in a variety of work and has taken on an increasing amount of responsibility. Working closely with Dr. Seiderer, Daniel spends much of his time working on the industrial consultancy side of our business. He is responsible for producing benthic biological reports, conducting scoping exercises and producing EIA documents, co-ordinating tenders for work, liaising with clients and regulators to ensure the satisfaction of both, analysing data and producing maps with GIS software tools.

Daniel also leads MESLs work on matters of legislation such as following the developments of the Marine Bill.
