Surveys

Specialist Expertise

MESL’s core work revolves around conducting benthic and epibenthic surveys in the marine environment, both inshore and offshore. We have a wealth of expertise in the following areas:

  • Designing robust survey plans and methodologies to gain regulatory approval
  • Conducting benthic biological surveys  at all scales
  • Conducting epibenthic and fish surveys with a high degree of scientific integrity
  • Identifying and enumerating all fauna gathered during survey in our NMBACQ accredited, in-house laboratory
  • Analysing and interpreting all data accumulated during surveys using a variety of univariate, multivariate and GIS techniques
  • MESL prides itself on being a multidisciplinary organisation and increasingly we are able to analyse and interpret data relating to the physical environment, such as the analysis of geophysical data which complements our biological studies
