Meeting the MPA Network Principle of Viability

This report was commissioned in September 2009 to provide advice on viability, one of the seven Marine Protected Area (MPA) network design principles. This research used existing literature to provide evidence on the viable area required to conserve habitats and species of conservation importance.

The MESL laboratory specialises in analysis of benthic and epibenthic samples from a wide variety of environments ranging from estuarine to offshore.  Primarily our work consists of monitoring for the aggregate industry and, more recently, the renewable energy sector.  Our staff comprise of an experienced team of marine biologists who are self-motivated and work to tight deadlines.

Race for Life, Truro, 11th July 2010

Lisa Grubb took part in the Race for Life in Truro on  Sunday 11th July 2010 together with  hundreds of women and girls.  The course was 5km and Lisa, along with her two sisters, part walked, part jogged it in 53 minutes.  Lisa said “It was very emotional but also a lot of fun.  I have so far raised £130 for a very worthwhile cause so a big thank you to everyone who has sponsored me. “  If you would like to raise money for charity then go to www.raceforlife.org

MESL attend Oceanology Exhibition

MESL attended Oceanology, the global forum for the ocean science and marine technology community, at Excel in London on the 10 March, 2010.  The event was very well attended and provide an excellent forum for everyone involved in UK marine science to appraise new technology and to forge new contacts.  MESL maintained a presence on the Gardline Marine Sciences Limited (GMSL) stand, using the opportunity to disseminate the brand new promotional material that they have put together for 2010 following their continued expansion.  MESL also featured heavily in the GMSL promotional
