MESL School of Marine Taxonomy courses

The MESL School of Marine Taxonomy has opened bookings for the following upcoming courses: Sabellid, Serpulid and Eunicid Identification Workshop with Dr Maria Cristina Gambi, Professor Adriana Giangrande and Dr Margherita Licciano from 5th-9th March 2012 at the Marine Biological Association of the UK (MBA), Plymouth; Scaleworm Identification Workshop with Dr Ruth Barnich from 12th-15th July 2012 at Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd, Bath; and the annual Benthic Taxonomy Summer School from 18th-29th June 2012 at the Marine Biological Association of the UK (MBA), Plymouth.

Gardline Travelling Bear visits Roman Bath

The Gardline travelling bear visited Bath this weekend to enjoy the views of our historic City before returning to Great Yarmouth.  The bear, together with his keeper for the weekend Jack Pitts, visited the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and various other landmarks.

New record of depth distribution for the cheilostome bryozoan Cauloramphus spinifer

Abstract

Cauloramphus spinifer, a cheilostome bryozoan, was found in samples from the Humber Regional Environmental Characterization survey in the North Sea. These records, at a maximum depth of 53.1 m, significantly increase the known depth-range for this species.
